2011 Cartell.ie International Rally of the Lakes Press Release 1

Killarney and District Motor Club are delighted to announce that Ireland’s leading vehicle history record company Cartell.ie have come on board for a second year to support the 2011 Rally of the Lakes as main sponsor.

Ordnance Survey Ireland and the Gleneagle Hotel who have been the main supporters of the Rally of the Lakes for many years continue as Associate Sponsors.

The 32nd Rally of the Lakes will take place over the May bank holiday weekend of 30th April – 1st May and will be a counting for:
· Round 3 of the Irish Tarmac Championship 2011
· Round 2 of the Southern 4 Championship 2011
· Round 2 Citroen Racing Trophy 2011

Killarney man Dermot Healy has taken on the role of COC for this year’s event.
Having been involved with the Rally of the Lakes in one form or another over the past 20 years. Dermot and his team have put together the most famous classic route of stages available, such as 3 runs at the famous Molls gap over the weekend.
Beallaghbeama,Caragh Lake, Shanera with centralised service in Killarney on Saturday and Healy pass, Cods Head. Ardgroom. With centralised service in Castletownbere on Sunday.

Entry fee for International rally is 850euro and National rally is reduced to 800euro.

For this you’re competing in Irelands pinnacle tarmac rally with 16 of the best stages this island has to offer, totalling over 240 stage km.

A free Entry to next year’s event is up for grabs for the winners of each category.

In the Historic section we have put together a Special deal for 600euro the cars will start on first stage Sat morning (no waiting around), all cars will be seeded in the main field, and they will get a total of 14 stages, with an extra long service Sat evening and a free Entry to next year’s event for the winner.

The Juniors get a full day Sunday, 8 special stages on offer for 350euro and a free Entry to next year’s event for the winner. “The next Billy Coleman winner should prove himself in Killarney”.

This year’s event will kick off with a ceremonial start in Killarney town on Friday evening at 8pm.Followed with 2 hard days of rallying and returning to the finish ramp at the Gleneagle hotel Sunday evening at approximately 5pm.

Quality Hotels West Cork Rally 2011 Press Release 2

With less than three weeks to go before the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally, over 110 entries have been received for Cork Motor Clubs flagship event. One of those who has entered so far is Daragh O'Riordan who intends to debut his Subaru Impreza S12c WRC in Clonakilty. Multiple Bones O'Connor award winner John Dalton will also be back in his potent Darrian T90 GTR, and James Stafford is in a race against time to repair his similar car after an accident on last weekends Birr rally. Local driver Kevin Kelleher has also entered the event in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 and current Billy Coleman award winner Robert Barrable has entered his ex Hanninen Skoda Fabia S2000.

In the Citroen Racing Trophy 2011 of which the event is the first round, entries have been received to date from Joseph McGonigle, Mark Sheehan, Joe Shrimpton, Peter Barrable & Scott McElhinney. The Quality Hotels West Cork Rally is also the first round of the Windscreen Company Southern 4 Rally Championship. John & Sandy Corrigan from The Windscreen Company have come on board as title sponsors of this great clubman series for 2011. The classic Group B cars in the shape of Slowly Sideways will also be back in Clonakilty in 2011 after their successful appearances in the last two years. The Slowly Sideways cars will be in action on nine of the events seventeen stages over rally weekend.

West Cork Rally 2011 - Town Spectator Stage to return to Clonakilty

The 2011 Quality Hotels West Cork Rally will see the return of the Town Spectator Stage. The test will bring the action back into the town of Clonakilty and will enable more spectators to witness the excitement of the rally. The stage will also enable the competitor to bring his sponsors to the attention of a greater audience.

The Town Spectator Stage will be the final action of the rally on Sunday afternoon. Originally it had been intended to host the test on Saturday afternoon, but this was changed after discussion with commercial outlets.
